Congratulations and Farewells, Trinity Class of 2023

Jesus said, “Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. As you have sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world: (John 17:17-18)

Saturday, May 20, was a day of joyful celebration as faculty, staff, students, friends, and community gathered for the graduation of the Trinity Class of 2023.

Spring 2023 M.Div. graduates: Morgan Walker Annable, Rita Argus, Samantha DiBiaso, Andrea McDonough, Mariah Mills, Andrew Thompson, Jamie Ulrich

Spring 2023 MTS graduates: Cheryl Frasch, Adam Howard, Lurenna Hutchings, Mary Clare Kunkel, Marcella McCurdy, Matthew Milbrodt, Kristofer Perkola, Serena Travis
Also recognized were Bruce Miller (M.Div.) and Sharon Hunter (MTS), both of whom had completed their degree requirements earlier in the academic year.

The graduates selected their Bible professor, the Rev. Dr. Rachel Wrenn, to preach the sermon at the baccalaureate eucharist. Pastor Drew Genszler, M.Div. 2000, gave the commencement address, focusing on the role of Christians in our increasingly divided society.

This was also the final Trinity commencement for two other members of the Trinity Lutheran Seminary community. After 18 years on the Trinity faculty, the Rev. Dr. Cheryl Peterson has accepted a new call to serve as Academic Dean at Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa, where she will move this summer. Also this summer Capital University Pastor Drew Tucker will begin a new call as Executive Director of HopeWood Outdoors, a ministry that provides camping and retreat opportunities in Central Ohio and on Lake Erie. We are grateful for the time that the Spirit has called them into ministry in this community, and we pray for God’s rich blessings as both Dr. Peterson and Pastor Drew bring their gifts to grace new communities of faith.
